Workshop I

Literature review on immigration in Romania, December 2012

The interactive workshops organised within the Research and Information Center on Immigrant Integration aim to facilitate the actions of the multidisciplinary research team in view of performing the integration study.

The workshops are also a good opportunity for the multidisciplinary team to interact with other members of organisations and experts activating in relevant fields for the social integration of TCNs.

The first interactive workshop was held on 4 December 2012 in Bucharest, at the office of the Research and Information Center on Immigrant Integration.

The participants in the interactive workshop were members of the multidisciplinary team - researchers in immigrants' integration, anthropology, legislation. We also had participants from TImisoara, Constanta, Cluj Napoca and Iasi.

The organisations and participants were selected based on the activities performed in relevant areas for immigrants' integration. Thus we had representatives of the Intercultural Institute in Timişoara (www.intercultural.ro), of the Centre for Civic Resources in Constanţa (www.resursecivice.ro), of LADO Cluj (www.ladocluj.org) and ATRAG Iaşi (atrag.ro).

The research team's objective for this meeting was to discuss the conceptual framework prepared on the basis of the literature review during the first three months of activity within the project. Thus the discussions following the presentation of the team's activity and the stages covered up to the first workshop aimed to collect opinions, observations and suggestions on how the first version of the conceptual framework was drafted.

Based on the discussions and debates within the workshop the suggestions and observations from participants were integrated and the second version of the conceptual framework was prepared, following a review within the multidisciplinary research team.
