A ship in the Romanian coastal waters of the Black Sea filled with immigrants was discovered by the Constanta border police. The foreigner had a 20 meter long sail boat without a flag, but with two Turkish guides on board. They had to help them get to a Schengen country. But the ship was intercepted at Cap Aurora, so the Syrians could not be picked up for another destination.
According to the General Inspectorate for Immigration, on July 7, the 33 Syrian immigrants intercepted close to the Black Sea Romanian shore, manifested their intentions to demand protection from the Romanian state. The group made up of 18 men, 7 women and 8 minors submitted asylum application to the Constanta Immigration Service within the General Inspectorate for Immigration. After that, 33 Syrian citizens taken by the General Inspectorate for Immigration were transported, with the help of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, to the Galati Regional Centre for Accommodation and Procedures for Asylum Seekers.
Next, the people in question will go through the procedures in the legislation regarding asylum and will benefit from housing in the Galati Regional Centre for Accommodation and Procedures for Asylum Seekers. As for the Turkish guides, according to the puterea.ro website, they have criminal records for illegally crossing the border and recruiting, mentoring and guiding one or more persons so as to illegally cross the border. Investigations are coordinated by the Mangalia Public Prosecutor’s Office.
