Call for papers for the international Symposium on“Refugees and Migrants: A Global Problem or an Asset” (Ankara, Turkey, 20 to 23 October 2016)

The Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA) and The Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) are organizing between 20 and 23 of October 2016 the International Symposium on “Refugees and Migrants: A Global Problem or an Asset”.

The themes of the symposium will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Concepts, theories and models of migration and refugees
  • The role of migration in human history and civilization
  • Migrant scientists
  • Forced migration and refugees
  • Problems of migrants and refugees: food, shelter and health
  • Problems of migrants and refugees: identity, social integration and legal protection
  • Pros and cons of the UNHCR and other international organizations
  • The contribution of migrants and refugees
  • Migrant workers and remittances
Call for abstracts:
Applicants are invited to submit one-page abstract in English with a brief C.V. (MS word, 12 points; refer to the attached sample C.V. and abstract limited to 200 words) by e-mail to aassa.tuba@tuba.gov.tr no later than 22 August 2016.
