ICMPD Anniversary Event, in November in Vienna

Alexandra Mănăilă - Reporter

10 July 2013

2013 is an important year for the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), because the organization will mark 20 years of existence. To celebrate the results in the past two decades, ICMPD will organize a series of events, including a key event in Vienna on November 7 2013.

This event will bring together high-level government officials, practitioners, eminent scholars, as well as representatives from international organizations, EU institutions and the media. The overarching theme of the celebration will be "migration governance in the past - visions for the future". This theme is also the focus of the project "Ten Observations on the Future of Migration in Europe - Costs, Benefits and Policy Responses" that ICMPD will carry out in 2013. As a matter of fact, the project, which will be finalized at the end of 2013, constitutes the main attraction of the celebration.

ICMPD is an international organization, founded in 1993, upon the initiative of Austria and Switzerland. ICMPD is well-known to the practitioners and governmental institutions as one of the most developed and credible experienced organizations in the migration field. Although it has a European basis, ICMPD has projects in the whole world – Europe, Asia, Central Asia, Middle East and South America.
