International Conference METROPOLIS 2014 in Milan

The International Conference Metropolis will be held in Milan between 3-7 November 2014, with the subject “Migration: Energy for the Planet. Feeding Cultures”. The Conference is organised by the Foundation Iniziative e Studi sulla Multietnicita (ISMU), under the auspice of EXPO Milano 2015.
The international project Metropolis started 18 years ago in Canada cities and consists of a network which fosters comparative research in the fields of migration, diversity and immigrant integration. Metropolis currently includes researchers, politicians, international organisations, institutions and non-governmental organisations in North America, Europe and Asia.
The conference will have 8 plenary sessions aimed to generate reflections and debates on the most important migration issues. The main themes include: Forced migration and its effects in the Mediterranean; Undocumented migrants and the challenges in relation to municipal authorities; Global migration management and trade agreements; The advantages of diversity; The relationship between migration, food and culture; Migration and development; Migration and the media. In addition to the plenary sessions there will also be a large number of workshops covering a wide range of themes to be discussed in more detail.
More then 700 delegates from over 40 countries are expected to participate in this year's event.
