2 February 2015
The Oxford University Department of International Development organizes the International Summer School in Forced Migration between 6 - 24 July 2015; the project encourages dialogue between academics, practitioners and decision makers to improve the status of refugees and forced migration.
The Summer School offers an intensive, interdisciplinary and participative approach to the study of forced migration, enabling professionals working with refugees and other forced migrants to reflect critically on the forces and institutions that dominate this area of migration.
The course is intended for researchers specialised in the study of forced migration, practitioners involved in humanitarian aid and policy making for forced migration, as well as for political officers, government officials, personnel of intergovernmental organisations. Candidates should have a consistent experience in working with refugees or in the area of forced migration, as well as proficiency in English language. Asfari and Saïd foundations offer scholarships to candidates working with refugees in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. The candidates wishing to apply for a scholarship should do so through the International Summer School office, deadline 1 March 2015.
The participation fee for the event is 3,300 GBP, including accommodation, all course materials, reading materials and a range of social activities. The deadline for summer school applications is May 2015. More information can be requested at summer.school@qeh.ox.ac.uk.
