8 May 2015
Between 15 – 16 October 2015, the University of Malmö will organize the international workshop on "Return migration, circular migration and social work – An emerging field of practice".
The possibility of returning home is a constant in the life experience of migrants. In parallel, circular migration (within or outside the European Union) is also of interest for the political agenda. The workshop looks at aspects related to social work and welfare correlated with circular migration and with the migrants' return to their countries of origin.
The organizers encourage cross-national and inter-organizational comparative analyses, historical analyses, as well as local case studies with a focus on political, organizational, professional and ethic implications of social work in relation with the individuals and groups involved in these processes: potential emigrants who return home, repatriated and deported persons, forced migrants and unaccompanied minors and family members left behind in the origin country.
The workshop is organized by the research group “International migration and social protection – Mobility and diversity as challenges to welfare rights and provision” of IMISCOE network. The application consists of an abstract (250 words) to include the paper title, the main research question, main methods and results, as well as the author's contact details and affiliation data. Abstracts shall be sent by 31 July 2015 to paolo.boccagni@unitn.it and erica.righard@mah.se.
