Map of Local and Regional Authorities' Good Practices on Integration

Carmen Munteanu - Communications Coordinator

26 August 2013

The European Website on Integration, managed by the Migration Policy Group (MPG) on behalf of the European Commission, has recently launched an interactive map with good practice examples of local and regional authorities on immigrants' integration.

The map was first presented within the 9th European Integration Forum of June 2013 by Commissioner Malmström. The official emphasized the importance of local and regional authorities in the immigrant integration process. "Integration takes place in the local community, and the different obstacles to integration cannot be dealt with through legislation. The Commission has therefore developed an interactive map (...) to further strengthen the local dimension of the integration policy framework.", she said.

The purpose of this map is to improve the exchange of good practices at local and regional level, and to further highlight the local dimension of integration policy to which local and regional authorities have an essential contribution.

The map includes local authorities' experiences and good practices in the area of integration, as well as the good practices identified by the Committee of the Regions for Migration and Development.
