"Migrant in Intercultural Romania" - local consulting seminar in Bucharest

Carmen Munteanu - Communications Coordinator

4 June 2013

The project "Migrant in Intercultural Romania", initiated by the Intercultural Institute of Timișoara and developed between July 2012 and June 2015, is financed through the General Program "Solidarity and management of migratory flows" – European fund for integration of third country nationals. This project continues the endeavours for integrating immigrants, and aims at the creation of consultative mechanisms between migrants and authorities, initiated by the Intercultural Institute of Timișoara in 2009.

The general objective of this project is the creation of an appropriate intercultural environment for facilitating the integration of third country nationals, with legal residence in Romania, by organizing local consulting seminars between immigrants and social actors involved in integration. Activities have been done in several cities of the country – Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Iași, Constanța – with the participation of partner organizations: the Association for Rights Protection and Social Integration (ADIS), the Constanța Center for Civic Resources and the League for Human Rights Protection (LADO), Cluj branch.

The next event from a series of local consulting seminars will be organized by the Association for Rights Protection and Social Integration (ADIS) in Bucharest. The seminar will take place in June 6 2013, starting with 10:00, at Hotel Răzvan, and among the guests will be representatives of public authorities and civil society, as well as foreigners with legal residence in Romania from countries which are not members of the European Union. Among the topics discussed there will be the access of immigrants to economic and social rights, with an emphasis on the opportunities and difficulties to study in Romania.
