Project launch announcement: Immigrant Discrimination in the area of Civil Rights – DIM
ARPS
18 March 2015
The Romanian Association for Health Promotion, in a partnership with Societatea Academică din România (the Romanian Academic Society) and Consiliul Naţional pentru Combaterea Discriminării (the National Council for Combating Discrimination), implements between 1 March 2015 - 30 April 2016 the project Immigrant Discrimination in the area of Civil Rights – DIM. The project benefits from a non-reimbursable grant of 74,664 EUR.
DIM aims to promote multicultural understanding, tolerance and to combat immigrant discrimination in Romania by a premier research of aliens' discrimination in the area of civil rights, and to improve anti-discrimination measures and practices.
Based on this research report the institutional stakeholders will formulate a policy brief with recommendations for anti-discrimination policies and measures. Additionally the anti-discrimination training for immigrants and public servants will contribute to combating discriminatory practices by reducing the number of cases of institutional discrimination and increasing the number of complaints from immigrants.
The anti-discrimination campaign will support the other project activities by a continuous effort of awareness raising among public authorities, employers, the general public and immigrants with respect to human rights.
The project is funded from the SEE 2009-2014 grants within the NGO fund in Romania. For official information about the SEE and Norwegian grants please see www.eeagrants.org.
Details about the project may be requested by e-mail at patricia.gogoasa@arps.ro or by phone at 021.527.79.79.
