Switzerland announced at the beginning of this month that it cancelled the labour market restrictions for 25 EU states but they maintain the limits for Romania, according to Mediafax news agency.
The transitory provisions remain in force not just for Romanian citizens but also for Bulgarians and Croatians, therefore for the latest EU accessing countries. The Government in Bern will decide the duration of these restrictions for Romanians and Bulgarians.
On the other hand "The agreement on free movement of persons concluded between Switzerland and the European Union does not allow for the possibility to extend restrictions" for citizens of the 25 European Union member states, said the Swiss Government representative. Therefore citizens of the 25 EU member states specified may become employed in Switzerland with no restrictions.
