2013 Immigrant Integration Barometer will be released

Carmen Munteanu - Communications Coordinator

11 June 2013

The Romanian Association for Health Promotion and the Soros Foundation Romania will launch on June 18 at Ibis Parlament Hotel, the 2013 edition of the Immigrants Integration Barometer. The event will close the first stage of the project "Research and Information Center on Immigrants’ Integration", which marked the completion of an integrated study on the immigrant integration phenomenon in Romania.

The research set out to capture aspects of the integration process for foreigners outside the communitary space, by focusing on the following fields: work, medical and social assistance, education, citizenship. According to the Barometer, Romanians have an open attitude towards foreigners in the country and support measures protecting them. The study also reveals that positive attitude towards immigrants is conditioned by their work status and knowledge of Romanian.

Victoria Nedelciuc from Soros Foundation Romania will present in great detail the 2013 Immigrants Integration Barometer, making reference to the aims, methodology used and obtained results. Representatives of departments within the General Inspectorate for Immigration of NGOs, immigrants and journalists are invited to speak at the conference. They will have the opportunity to ask questions and find out answers in the debate sessions.

Persons and organizations who wish to attend the event are kindly asked to contact the organizers via email: claudiaiordache@soros.ro till June 13 2013.
